Tonight, we are featuring performances from the 2026 Concert of Colors festival.

Each July, the Concert of Colors brings the sounds of the world to Detroit, featuring performers from down the street to across the globe.

2026 is the festival's 35th year, and it honors the memory of festival founder, Ismael Ahmed.

(upbeat groovy music) - It gives me a great pleasure to introduce this next artist.

Carmen Lundy is an award-winning vocalist, composer, arranger, educator, and one of the most influential voices in modern jazz.

Over a remarkable career spanning more than five decades, she has distinguished herself as a singular artist whose creative vision continues to shape the jazz landscape.

As a leader, Lundy has released 16 acclaimed recordings, several nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album.

Her catalog includes more than 150 published compositions recorded by numerous celebrated artists.

Beyond the stage, Lundy has inspired generations of musicians as a lecturer in global jazz studies at UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music, and through masterclasses presented around the world.

In 2023, she was named Jazz Master in Residence at Harvard University.

In 2025, she was selected as a member of the inaugural class of Jazz Legacy Fellows, a prestigious program of the Mellon Foundation and the Jazz Foundation of America.

And I'm very happy to say earlier this year, she was named part of the 2026 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masterclass, the nation's highest honor in jazz.
