Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- [Will] The thrill of the open road, the promise of adventure.
- To the work we do.
(glasses clinking) - When we finished season seven, Will's married.
We suspect that everyone associated with Grantchester are gonna live happily ever after.
- To Bonnie and Ernie.
- It could have been the end, but the writers had more in store, so we had to come back for another one.
(melodic orchestral music) Things could not be better for Will, Bonnie and everyone else and there is one on the way.
- Bonnie is now pregnant, she's very excited about it.
- The Keating family has expanded, it's nice, because that means that there's quite a bit more crossover.
- Come on, let's get cracking.
- Leonard is running a halfway house.
- Finding a happy place between helping people and serving the community.
- When you leave here, you'll be ready to face the world again.
- Mrs. C. as always clucks around like the mother hen.
- Scone, Aunt?
- No, thank you.
- So things are good, but it's "Grantchester," things are always good and then they're not.
(tense orchestral music) - I think this man was murdered.
- The storylines are serious and really tests the characters we love.
- By the end of the summer, you'll qualify for early retirement.
We have to make way for the youngsters coming up the ranks.
- He can't still hold a grudge.
- Oh, it's personal.
- You destroyed my life.
- Geordie is being removed from the one thing he's passionate about.
- I have put my life into this station.
I've still got a lot to give.
- Larry and Miss Scott, they've got the chance to kind of work on a case together.
- That is a moment for Larry to kind of step up.
(objects clattering) - Oi, police!
- Who you trying to protect?
- I just wanna set a good example, be the father I never had.
- Something happens that potentially changes his life forever.
- Will has to confront his own recklessness.
- I know you blame yourself for what happened.
- He's our moral compass and once that becomes unbalanced... - Will.
(blow thudding) - Uh!
- [Robson] The characters around him start to fracture.
- [Will] No one is without sin.
- You are better than this.
- [Will] Maybe I'm not as good as you think.
- Is season eight the best season yet?
Take a wild guess.
