Ryan Hagler on the bass.
Yes, indeed.
When I was a little girl, I absolutely hated my granddaddy stories.
But then he passed away a couple of years ago.
And I really miss those stories.
You know, there was one in particular that we all love and still cherish to this day.
He told it to me like this.
He said, jazz, do you know the man who had two bags said, no, Papa, I don't know about the man with two bags, but go ahead on and tell me.
He said there was a man.
This man was brave and bold, and he walked along on his journey.
And as he was walking along, he met people who said, horrible, despicable things to him.
But he had two bags.
The first bag was one great big old bag that he put on his bag.
That bag had a hole at the bottom of it.
Do you know why I said no, Papa, tell me why.
He said, because when he walked in, people said things to Up.
He took those things and put them in that bag with the hole in it, so that as he walked along on his journey, it would fall on out on the way.
And he didn't have to hold on to those things, you dig?
And then there was a small bag.
It was minuscule, I mean tiny, and that was the bag that he kept near and dear to his heart.
But it was so small.
So I want you to think about that on your own personal journey in your life.
People will say kind things, but he won't be very many.
Now, in my mind, at nine years old, I'm like, how you gonna put words in a bag, Papa?
It makes no sense.
But at 34.
Come on, y'all, people say stuff to me every day I walk out the house.
Good morning.
I want to speak to you.
Just put it in my bag and keep it moving.
You dig?
So this is for the late, great Reverend Bill Horne.
This is entitled Happy Living.
I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you.
Piano Solo When I when I wake up.
I know it's such a blessing.
And so I really don't be stressing about what the day May bring.
I keep my head up.
I look through the sky.
And if some rain should fall the pain washed away with within.
Because people always saying whatever they be saying.
But I have no time for playing because I spend.
My time on praying.
And whenever it gets dark I feel the most high in my heart And then I look.
Up at the moon and stars to guide my my way.
Because I like to think my own thoughts.
Cause I'm smart.
And very.
Clever.
And I can think for myself in any weather I'd like to be what I be and who I because I be happy living my own life with no strife.
It's all free.
And I don't feel bad when others make me mad.
I keep a holding my bag on my shoulders and just sing my own songs.
Then I keep along on my journey, by becoming my greatest.
Me and I just be who I be, be me.
Let me say it again.
And I'll be free to be me.
And be me.
Piano I like to think my own thoughts.
Cause I'm smart.
And very clever.
And I can say it.
But my little self in any weather I like to be when I be happy Living my own life with no strife.
It's all very.
I feel bad when others try to make me mad.
I give all to my bag And you sing, my own song and keep along keep along on my journey It's me.
And I just feel free to be me.
Free to be.
How I am.
Free to be who I be be.
To be who you are.
Higher than the moon, and the stars.
Free as a bird in the sky.
Free than the people passing by.
Free mentally.
Oh, I got, my sovereignty.
My ability is my.
Responsibility to be free for humanity, to get free spiritually free.
Financially free.
abundantly I have respect for you and for me.
Oh, freedom.
Come here.
Freedom.
lives here Free, I'm free.
Free.

Oh, yes, I'm free to me, me and be me.

And then also watch those walk out after we play the song.
It never fails.
Sometimes we play the song and we have five people left.
Sometimes we play the song and the people outside come in.
I never know when I'm being used, so I just do what I'm told.
