University of Texas at San Antonio researchers are trying to understand why brain cells, which cannot divide, try to do so when affected by Alzheimer’s. Brain cells try to heal by creating new cells, which is normal for other cells, but die because they cannot finish the process. Researchers want to understand why this happens, and see if they can help them divide and recover from the disease.
