Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipGUEST: I brought a sweatshirt-- it was my dad's.
He got it at an Ozzy concert in San Bernardino in 1982.
APPRAISER: You've seen your dad wear this?
'Cause look how tiny it is!
GUEST: Yeah.
(laughs) APPRAISER: Like, he was a small dude!
GUEST: He got that when he was 15, so it's been a while.
APPRAISER: Okay, fair enough.
GUEST: (laughs) APPRAISER: Can't fit in it anymore.
GUEST: Probably not.
APPRAISER: You ever rock the sweatshirt?
GUEST: I used to wear it a ton, but not recently.
APPRAISER: Very cool.
So, obviously, as blatant as it is on the front, yes... GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: This is a concert sweatshirt for Ozzy Osbourne.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: Really interesting when we look at the graphic on the back.
You'll see "Blizzard of '82."
The "Blizzard of Ozz" tour was actually 1980 to 1981.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: Didn't happen in 1982.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: 1982 was "Diary of a Madman."
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: So, that makes the question how did this sweatshirt come into fruition?
We are confident that this is actually a parking lot bootleg... GUEST: (laughs) APPRAISER: ..of a sweatshirt-- correct.
So when you look at the graphic, there's no licensing.
There's nothing that says, like, "Official property," with the year for a record label.
APPRAISER: This sweatshirt is actually more desirable because it is a bootleg.
It would have had an extremely low production.
Conservatively, at auction, this would be a $400 to $600 sweatshirt today.
GUEST: Wow, that's really surprising.
(chuckles)
