It has been two years since the Legislature transferred control of the Alamo from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas to the Land Commissioner. Last November the Texas Attorney General issued a scathing report regarding mismanagement by the Daughters. The next month a chapter of the Daughters that had used the facility as its headquarters. Their contract to run the Alamo expires this summer.
